For the first time in more than a century, Chicago has two teams in the Major League Baseball playoffs. Back then, before the expansion off the playoff system, the Windy City topped the American and National Leagues, and the White Sox beat the Cubs in the World Series.

The Chicago White Sox beat the Minnesota Twins in one-game playoff to break the tie in the American League Central divisions’ standings. Thome’s long drive estimated travel of 461 feet that snaps a scoreless tie in the seventh inning. It was the 541st career homer for Thome, who hadn’t been to the playoffs since 2001 in Cleaveland. While John Danks pitched eight innings of two hit ball o short rest.
It just proves that Chicago is a great baseball city.
