The San Francisco 49ers fired coach Mike Nolan on Monday. And it seems like they are trying to keep this a secret. Nolan was dismissed seven games into his fourth losing season, after four consecutive losses climaxing in Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants. Mike Singletary, assistant head coach is expected to take over the 49ers, who managed a 2-1 start this season, Singletary was at the team’s training complex late Monday night when he got the news. He is believed to be working out on a new contract at that time. The team and the organization made no public statements yet as to what would be Nolan’s fate and the unfolding drama and chaos. Nolan did not have any idea of what was coming. He was so surprised and even conducted the usual news conference. Jed York is not available for comment. The Yorks acquired the team in 2000 after the owner Eddie DeBartolo lost control over the team.
