ESPN’s Low-Key Approach to Masters Leads To Solid Reviews

ESPN’s first-round coverage of The Masters on Thursday ”mostly succeeded, thanks to a strategy of hardly ever being recognizable as ESPN,” according to Charles Elmore of the PALM BEACH POST. During the telecast, ESPN aimed “not to disturb the hushed dignity” of the event. Networks televising The Masters “scale back their noisier, busier tendencies.”

Catching Up With TBS MLB Play-By-Play Announcer Chip Caray

CHIP CARAY represents the family’s third generation to grace the broadcast booth. His grandfather, late HOFer HARRY CARAY, spent 53 seasons calling MLB games, and his father, SKIP, has been calling Braves games since ’76. Chip on occasion has journeyed outside the diamond, calling games for the Magic and Florida State Univ. football, among others.

Gov. Gregoire Plans To Ask Stern, BOG Not To Approve Sonics Move

Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire Thursday said that she plans to ask NBA Commissioner David Stern and the NBA BOG, which next week will meet to vote on the Sonics’ relocation request, “not to approve the Sonics move and to give the state a chance to keep the team,” according to Chris Daniels of KING-NBC.
